Well I never thought I would leave this poor blog unattended for so long. Everytime I go online, I think..”Ok, I should write something!”, only to be distracted by a random tweet, or even a balloon flying high over Colorado. And there are plenty of other things that have put me off writing (Work, Study, Exams, Being too tired). That aside, would you want to venture into an old house with cobwebs in it? Or would you say to yourself..”Hmm there is potential!” I’m leaning towards the latter at the moment. I’d rather not delete the blog as I know down the line I would set another one up like I have done in the past. But I think I should keep this active, leave it on view, and anytime a random thought comes into my mind, I’ll write it down here.
So what have I being doing lately? Well I am just back from a trip to Leeds which I enjoyed..even if it was for the one day. I have just recently set myself up with a digital box with UPC. Great to watch and it is so handy, but service is pants when something goes wrong! I have finished up programme selling for the year….until the France play off that is! It should be a sell out but I RARELY like working at soccer matches! Roll on the GAA season, that’s what I say. Anyway, thats really it..not much more going on. I’ll write again soon…..but I wouldn’t put too much money on it!
So I may have written previously that I had purchased a Wii Fit, and it has been a welcome addition to the household. Up to a few weeks before writing, I had only been interested in Wii Sports and more specifically, Bowling!! I have become addicted to it, and hope to bring this new found interest to the lanes of the LeisurePlex 🙂 I just wonder if I will score all those strikes and spares? Hmm..doubtful! More recently however, I have jumped headfirst into Wii Fit and what it offers. I started off not taking it too seriously, creating a profile and doing a few of these step up exercises. They are fun and I really didn’t think it would do any harm..hey! I may even lose some weight! It was a case of “Let’s see!”. Days turned into weeks and before long I was taking a more avid interest in the programme, gaining more trust in what it had to say. Hey, it even had a friendly instructor that shows you the steps and gives you a reassuring word of advise if you are piling on the pounds! Anyway to cut a long story short, on Friday, I did an exercise created to tone up the calf muscles at the back of the legs. Somehow I managed to pull a muscle in my back and it has become the bane of the weekend. I’m not sure if it is a good thing that my back hurts but I will see how I feel like in the next few days, otherwise I will get this checked out.
I don’t mind pains and aches in my legs and shoulders, I have had my fair share of them. Kind of takes the enjoyment out of what is a game console! Ouch!
It was only a matter of time before I seccumbed to writing again. It’s been so long that the page itself has slipped my mind. I have come up with so many different excuses not to write and it even got to the stage where I was about to delete the page. There was no real need for that though. I’ve managed to peek in and say hello to whoever is viewing this.
My last few weeks have been good on the whole. Work has picked up mainly due to the bad weather here in this fair isle. The “recession” never holds people back from travelling to relax in the sun. And with new business aproaching, it appears that we will have a busy summer. As you may have seen in previous posts, I have sat an insurance exam back in February. The results are out and I’m pleased to say I have passed. The next exam is October 2009. Roll on! Won’t be long before I have a few letters after my name!
I have spent the last few weekends either in Croke Park or watching Manchester United close in on the double! The Heineken cup semi final was played two weeks ago and now Croke Park is back to hosting GAA for the summer! The first match back is June 7th, between Dublin v Meath. It should be a good game but either way, there will be a full house at headquarters. The business end of the season is usually the start of July right up to the end of August. Let us see what the future holds. Another thing of note is that Croke Park will host a Dublin hurling match against Antrim. It should be interesting to see what kind of a crowd come along for that.
I have been devouring new music in the last month. I don’t know where to begin really. I have been listening to a bit of everything from The Radio Dept, Air France, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Styrofoam, The Crystal Method. If you threw these names at me a few years ago I would gasp and asked if you were joking! But my music taste has taken a sharp turn…for the better I think. Previously I wouldn’t listen to any music if there wasn’t a guitar in it..I think I have gotten over that though! I am loving the Doves album, it is on repeat at the moment.
There is not much else to write about to be honest. Ireland has local and european elections to look forward to in the next few weeks. This should be fun. People who generally would never vote are deciding to this time around. I guess they are looking for some kind of change. They may get it but we will wait and see. Personally I have always voted for the present government but things may change! Until later, ciao!
I just thought I’d pop my head in and let you know what’s happening here in Dublin. I’m currently on a break from work until Tuesday, something I’ve been looking forward to for a while. Ordinarily I would travel to the country, places like Wexford, Cork or Galway, but I have an exam upcoming so I need to work on that. My usual un-organised self..leaving everything until the last moment..drastic stuff! 🙂
It is Good Friday today and while some people believe that this is a Happy day, I was brought up to believe that this is a solemn, quiet and mournful day….like someone had died, I guess! While that was the case, times have changed since then, people get on with their lives and the Easter season is not as much on our minds as years gone by. I have to admit I love devouring choco eggs, which have nothing to do with Easter 🙂 I am back to work on Tuesday, after a Bank Holiday on Monday. No rest for me though. I have a few hours to read over “The Law of Tort” for insurance purposes. Boring!
Moving on, I am a Man Utd fan for more than 20 years and while I am so used to them winning, it is very hard to take watching them play bad, or lose convincingly, like they have in the last month. I still believe we can win the Premier League but this season is not for fans with dodgy hearts. As far as I’m concerned, and there may be United fans who disagree with me, but I don’t believe we can win the Champions League. Barcelona have that sown up and while it would be great to win or even take part in the final, our performance against Porto surely made Barcelona fans snigger!
Right! I better log off and get some study done. The next few weeks will be busy for me. I will be twittering during that time and I hope to post again very soon.
Ok, I’ve a serious apology to make, not only to this blog but to all readers. I keep meaning to update this every so often but rarely have the time or the patience to do so. Even on weekends. It is a pity because I used to have great enjoyment writing posts when I started. It was a good idea to start off with but I’m not so sure. I’m not so good with commitment 🙂
I have been paying most of my attention to work, study and when I can to last.fm. I can’t believe its over a month since I wrote my last post!! Since then I have enjoyed St Patricks Day, I have watched Ireland overcome Wales to win the Grand Slam and have also taken up an interest in classical music! For no apparent reason may I add.
Ok, so the plan is that I will keep this blog open, write on it whenever I can and try not to age too much. Don’t forget to follow me @clearskies if you wish! Talk soon.
This kid is amazing! Only saw this today and apparantly Chelsea and Man Utd are checking him out..
